The days are getting shorter, the air is crispier and nature is turning into a beautiful palette of red, golden brown and orange. During fall and winter, there are countless fun activities to enjoy. Whether you love cozy markets, scenic walks or sparkling light festivals, there's something for everybody. Scenic fall walks

Put on those waterproof shoes or boots and head outdoors! There are many beautiful walking areas in and around Rotterdam and The Hague, all surrounded by the stunning colours of fall. Visit one of the below locations at your own pace or join a guided fall walk.

  1. Clingendael Estate: a beautiful and diverse area in The Hague where your four-legged friends are also welcome to roam off-leash!
  2. Schevenings Bosjes: located on the edge of Scheveningen, this area offers a lovely mix of forest and dune like nature.
  3. Bieslandse Bos Nature Reserve: just south of The Hague in Nootdorp, this large forest features several great walking routes.
  4. Lage Bergse Bos: north of Rotterdam you'll find this scenic area had walking trails, two charming waterfront restaurants and even a dog beach.
  5. Kralingse Bos: a true Rotterdam icon. Centrally located with a deer park and a petting zoo for children.

 

De Grote Schijn - a magical walk in Kralingse Bos

Continuing the walking theme, het Kralingse Bos is also home to a beautiful event; De Grote Schijn.

From October 16th to November 2nd, you can discover enchanting light projections, whispering trees and captivating sounds in het Kralingse Bos. This family-friendly outdoor event takes place during evening hours. As darkness falls, the forest comes alive with magic making you feel like you've stepped into another world.

Delft Verlicht (Delft Illuminated)

Halfway between The Hague and Rotterdam lies Delft, which hosts beautiful light evenings every year. This year, the event runs from December 9th until January 4th. The 2025 edition's program will be available on the InDelft website starting November. One thing is certain: each year, countless visitors are enchanted by the magical atmosphere of Delft Verlicht. It is an absolute must see for young and old alike!

 

Willemsvaart themes boat tours in The Hague

In November and December, Willemsvaart in The Hague offers a variety of themed boat tours. Think of evening light cruises, Christmas cruises around the holidays and even special New Years Eve cruises! Royal Christmas Fair in The Hague

Every year during the Christmas season, The Hague Hosts the Royal Christmas fair. A charming Christmas market in the city center along the Lange Voorhout.

This year it runs from December 4th until December 23rd. Open daily from 12:00 to 21:00. Treat yourself to a hot drink at one of the cozy bars, enjoy the live performances on stage or browse the many stalls for unique gifts.
